Providers price differently: per U, per rack, per kW, metered or all-in. Write the requirement once in the same terms we use on the pricing sheet, and the quotes that come back can be compared line by line.
What makes a quote comparable
Load first. The total kW you will draw and the density per rack decide which buildings can take you and how many racks you need. If you know only the hardware, list it in the notes and we will work out the load with you.
Space second. Racks or rack units, and whether you need a cage or a private suite for audit reasons.
Then the extras that move the bill: bandwidth or IP transit, the number of cross-connects, the certifications you must show an auditor, the contract term and the date the space must be live.
Not sure of a number?
Leave it blank or give a range in the notes. A rough kW figure is more useful than an exact rack count with no power attached. The estimator turns kW and density into a rack count.
