A colocation quote looks like one number. It is really three: the power you may draw, the space you occupy and the connections you buy. Watt & Rack takes published prices apart into those components so you can tell a fair quote from an expensive one.

Why power, not racks
Published rate cards make the point better than any argument. One operator lists four full cabinets in Ashburn, from 1.92 kW to 4.99 kW. The cabinet is identical in every row, yet the price per kW stays between USD 467 and 472. A Bangkok provider charges the same amount per amp for a quarter, half or full rack. In both, the space comes with the power.
That is why we normalise every price we can to a price per kW, and why we refuse to normalise the ones we can't. A card that states only amps, or only kVA, stays as published: converting it would need a voltage or power factor the operator never gave. Prices stay in the operator's own currency, with the date we checked them; the source page of every price is on the Sources sheet.
Wholesale makes the same point at scale. Large deployments are leased per committed kW with no rack price at all. Across the markets in our data, CBRE's wholesale midpoints run from USD 160 per kW per month in São Paulo to USD 403 in Singapore.
